Aluminum Pigtail.

Aluminum wire was used for circuits in homes and businesses in the mid 60ís through the mid 70ís due to high copper prices caused by a national copper shortage.

The problem with using aluminum wire is that it expands and contracts with heat, during this expanding and contracting the wire it self can loosen screws and cause loose connections inside wire nuts. Loose connections in an electrical circuit causes heat and the wire to corrode which restricts the flow of electricity and causes more heat that may eventually cause an electrical fire.

To prevent to wire causing loose connections and corrosion our trained technicians can come to your property and install a copper wire extension to the end of the aluminum wire with an UL approved connector that has and anti-oxidant treatment inside to protect the connection for years.

Other benefits of having aluminum wire pigtailed to copper is that we will inspect and re make all connections in all plugs and switches with in your property  which will fix existing problems with outlets not working, lights flickering, switched outlets that don't work and future hidden problems from surfacing.

Other options during the pigtail service will be changing out the receptacles with new TR outlets per code, upgrading to rocker/decora switches or adding dimmers.
